Inweekly has heard a familiar face may return to Escambia County politics–Marie Young.

Escambia County School Board Member Linda Moultrie has announced that she is resigning, effective the end of October. Gov. Rick Scott will appoint her replacement.

Sources have shared that the governor’s office has contacted former County Commissioner Marie Young to see if she is interested. The only stipulation is that Young agrees to not seek election to the seat later.

Young worked for the school district for nearly 40 years as a teacher and administrator. She retired in 1994. She has served on both the Pensacola City Council and Escambia County Commission.
