The U.S. trade embargo on Cuba has not been lifted, but governors have traveled to the country since the re-establishment of diplomatic relations.

The Pew Charitable Trusts reports Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York was the first state chief executive. He didn’t wait for the embassy reopening, Cuomo visited in April after President Obama announced plans to ease relations with Cuba.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas went in September. Gov. Terry McAuliffe of Virginia hosted José Cabañas, Cuba’s ambassador to the U.S., in September.
