Disney donates $1M to help shooting victims, families

Bolstered by money from some of Central Florida’s biggest corporate players, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer on Tuesday announced formation of the OneFlorida Fund to help victims and family members in the aftermath of the mass shooting early Sunday at the Pulse nightclub.

The announcement said The Walt Disney Co. is donating $1 million, while Darden Restaurants is donating $500,000 and the Orlando Magic and JetBlue are each contributing $100,000. Meanwhile, Equality Florida, an LGBT advocacy group, had raised more than $3.65 million as of Tuesday afternoon to support victims of the shooting at the gay nightclub. Equality Florida was raising the money through the GoFundMe website.
