Invictus Games captain speaks on overcoming adversity, July 18

Mr. David Wiseman, Head of Armed Forces Programmes with the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, will speak at the Pensacola downtown library on Monday, July 18 from 6 – 7 p.m. on “Moving Beyond Injury and Overcoming Adversity.”

Mr. Wiseman was medically discharged from the British Forces in 2013 after serving in Afghanistan. He worked with Prince Harry to organize the summer 2014 Invictus Games in London and was invited to captain the U.K. team in the 2016 games in Orlando. Since returning from Afghanistan, he has also attempted Mt. Everest and written a book on his experiences.

He is here as part of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program and will be hosted locally by The Gulf Coast Citizen Diplomacy Council. While in town, he will explore topics related to veteran recovery and disaster relief efforts.

The Panhandle Tiger Bay Club and the Gulf Coast Citizen Diplomacy Council are partnering to present this event to the community.
