Escambia County employees on Day of Caring

Nearly 60 Escambia County employees volunteered Friday, Oct. 14 in support of the United Way Day of Caring, an annual community service effort coordinated by United Way of Escambia County. This year’s volunteers worked on a variety of projects at several locations throughout the county, including Capstone Adaptive Learning & Therapy Centers Inc., McMillan Pre-K Center, Heritage Oaks R.V. & Mobile Home Park, Episcopal Day School, Bellview Middle School and Jacqueline Harris Preparatory Academy.

Each year, the one-day event gives participants an opportunity to learn about the needs of the community while helping a nonprofit agency or school. United Way of Escambia County matches groups and individuals with agencies and local schools to spend the day volunteering on various projects. The volunteer work this year included indoor and outdoor projects, from painting and landscaping to reading with children and cooking lunch for adults with developmental disabilities.
