Buzz: Why was Bill Clinton sent to Cobb Center

When former U.S. president visits a city, the red carpet is usually rolled out – regardless if the president is Republican or Democrat. The Democrats had trouble finding an available site for former President Bill Clinton’s campaign stop.

The Pensacola Bay Center had the hockey floor down. Blue Wahoo Stadium had a UWF football game. School Superintendent Malcolm Thomas said state law prohibited a campaign rally on school district property.

And buzz is that Gov. Rick Scott said the University of West Florida and Pensacola State College campuses were off-limits to Clinton.

What was left? Cobb Center on Mallory Street. It was packed.
