The City of Pensacola PIO, Vernon Stewart, told Inweekly today, “Our 311 rep said that the one person who called 311, now believed to be Dr. Horning in hindsight, did not leave a name or number when she left the message.”
Dr. Gloria Horning disputes Stewart’s claim.
She told Inweekly tonight, “I spoke to 3-1-1 twice. The first time the operator did not ask for my name or address. Nor did I know that I was not speaking to someone local until the second call when the person said — “this is Pensacola right?” — I left my name, address and number.â€
Horning said her first call was on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 11:04 a.m. The second call was at 11:23 a.m.
Tomorrow morning, Inweekly will ask the City PIO to produce the 3-1-1 log for Dec. 4 for time period from 11 a.m. to noon and any audio of Dr. Horning’s second call.
In future reporting, could someone please explain what is meant by the phrase – “Nor did I know that I was not speaking to someone local….” Are 3-1-1 calls routed to Bangladesh or where? Why not just embed 3-1-1 staff within the Police/Fire Dispatch Center staffed 24 hours a day?
With my Chris Berman, the Swami, seance, I have learned the 3-1-1 record will not be complete. The tea leaves do not tell me if ‘technology failed’ or ‘the operator didn’t record that information’ or ‘sunspot activity clearly erased it’.
