Who is speaking the most at council meetings

Jaime Page’s column today writes about the marathon committee meetings. Diane Mack had a friend analyze how did the speaking during the nearly eight-hour meeting (7:15 according to Page) on March 23.

Staff spent 2:37 making presentations – curbside recycling ate 53 minutes and passed unanimously.

John Jerralds – 35 minutes, 43 seconds
Diane Mack – 24 minutes, 28 seconds

The least outspoken – Maren DeWeese at 4 minutes.

So staff took up 37% of the meeting; two council members took up over an hour – 16%

The mayor, seven council members and the public had the remaining 3 hours to speak.
