Underhill cleared of ethics violation claim

County Press Release: District 2 Commissioner Doug Underhill appeared in front of the State of Florida Commission on Ethics today, March 9, in Tallahassee where they issued a finding of no probable cause of violating Section 112.313(6) of Florida Statutes, clearing the commissioner of the ethics violation claim. Meeting information can be found by clicking here.

Complaint No. 17-145JMK/HBJ was filed by former Commissioner Wilson Robertson as a “consideration of probable cause” of an ethics violation. Robertson posed the ethical question related to Underhill seeking reimbursement in legal fees to defend a lawsuit and setting up a legal defense fund. The Escambia County Commission discussed paying for Underhill’s legal expenses at the Sept. 27, 2017 meeting, voting not to approve and to seek an opinion from the Florida Attorney General.
