Local combat veteran honored

During the meeting of the Florida Cabinet yesterday, Governor Scott recognized Alex Hill, 26, with the Governor’s Young Entrepreneur Award. Hill is a student at the University of West Florida as well as an Army Veteran who served in Afghanistan and Africa. Hill started Florida Coconuts to provide Florida’s visitors and beachgoers with fresh coconut water, and the company now sells coconuts all along the Gulf beaches.

Governor Scott said, “I’m proud to recognize Alex Hill with the Governor’s Young Entrepreneur Award. Young entrepreneurs like Alex have helped propel our economy with more than 1.5 million jobs created since December 2010.”

Alex Hill, Founder of Florida Coconuts, said, “Thank you Governor Scott, for recognizing me with the Governor’s Young Entrepreneur Award and for making Florida a great place for me to start and run a business. As a student and veteran, I am tremendously grateful for the opportunities that I have to be successful.”
