Yesterday, Florida surpassed 36K cases, while Escambia County approached 600 COVID cases with 55 new positive cases. Escambia accounted for 9% of all new cases yesterday.
According to May 3 FDOH dashboard, DOH Escambia entered 317 test results on Saturday – positive percentage 17.4%, which brought the ytd percentage back up to 7.1%. DOH Escambia has really increased its data entry or the turnaround on test results must have improved–we don’t which because Escambia EOC has yet to release data.
For Tuesday 4/28 through Thursday 4/30, the dashboard showed only showed 379 new test results for Escambia County. For Friday 5/1-Sunday 5/3 report, 1,241 results were added.
On a per capita basis, Escambia’s positive results (57.11 per 30K) Â only trails the three most infected counties: all in southeast Florida-Dade 141.13, Broward 82.82 and Palm Beach 64.93.

TALLAHASSEE — State agencies updated a variety of numbers Sunday about the coronavirus in Florida. Here are some takeaways:
— 36,078: Total number of cases.
— 1,379: Deaths of Florida residents.
— 485: Deaths of residents or staff members of long-term care facilities.
— 373: Prison inmates who have tested positive.
— 128: Inmates who have tested positive at Tomoka Correctional Institution.
— 92: Inmates who have tested positive at Sumter Correctional Institution.
— 56: Inmates who have tested positive at Liberty Correctional Institution.
— 1,025,657: Confirmed “unique†unemployment claims submitted from March 15 to Saturday, as some people have filed multiple claims.
— 452,526: Claimants paid.
— 700,261,670: Dollars paid to claimants.
— 38.3: Percentage of available hospital beds statewide.
— 36.5: Percentage of available adult intensive-care unit beds statewide.
