Hospitalizations at West Florida – up a third

West Florida Hospital – and Santa Rosa Medical – have added 16 COVID-19 patients this week – from 48 to 64.  From July 1-8, the hospital conducted an average of 87 inpatient COVID tests.

Ascension Sacred Heart continues to have the most COVID-19 patients – 85.  From July 1-8, the hospital conducted an average of 103 inpatient tests and 342 mobile specimen collections.

Baptist Hospital – whose total includes Gulf Breeze Hospital – only added one new case. The locally-owned health care system appears to be the outlier in the COVID pandemic, with the other two systems handling  74% of the cases.

Baptist has done the least amount of COVID testing in-house – averaging only 43 inpatient tests per day. Its mobile testing unit only averaged 95 specimen collections over the first eight days of July.

West Florida has suspended elective surgeries as of Thursday, July 16.
