Super says 59 COVID cases not 23

The afternoon after Inweekly questioned the state’s report that the numbers of COVID cases in local schools were only 23, Escambia County School Superintendent Malcolm Thomas told WEAR that the district had 59 cases

Superintendent Malcolm Thomas says most of the students aren’t positive and they were identified through contact tracing.

Thomas says 16 students attend Bellview Middle School, 13 are from Molino Park Elementary School and 12 are from Northview High School. The other 18 are scattered at schools across the county.
