Vaccinations by the numbers

From The News Service of Florida: Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that all Floridians ages 40 and older will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations starting Monday. DeSantis focused initially on vaccinating seniors and health-care workers but has gradually loosened eligibility requirements. Here is a breakdown of the ages of people who had been vaccinated as of a Wednesday count:

— Ages 16 to 24: 99,482 people; Escambia County: 1,297

— Ages 25 to 34: 241,935 people; Escambia County: 3,516

— Ages 35 to 44: 326,880 people; Escambia County: 4,255

— Ages 45 to 54: 476,321 people; Escambia County: 6,394

— Ages 55 to 64: 949,002 people; Escambia County: 13,284

— Ages 65 to 74: 1,817,873 people; Escambia County: 21,550

— Ages 75 to 84: 1,067,166 people; Escambia County: 11,680

— Ages 85 and older: 367,812 people; Escambia County: 4,304

Total – Florida: 5,346,471 ; Escambia 66,280
