Christmas on the Coast is a dazzling holiday spectacular where the singers of the Pensacola Children’s Chorus will transform sunny weather into a winter wonderland. Join nearly 200 performers in Downtown Pensacola at the Saenger Theatre on December 9, 10 and 11, 2022, as you experience all the sights and sounds of the holidays to keep you humming through the New Year!
Audiences will be transported to a medieval holiday feast complete with traditional madrigals and boughs of holly. Then, the bells will ring from the highest tower with an assortment of bell-themed carols and others that spread tidings of comfort and joy. Next, we’ll travel south of the border to get a taste of how Christmas is celebrated in Mexico. Later, cowboy boots will fill the stage for a holiday hoedown, along with special guests Rudolph and Santa Claus.
“We delight year after year bringing this holiday favorite to Northwest Florida,” says Alex Gartner, Artistic & Executive Director. “There’s always a little something for everyone, from familiar carols like ‘Deck the Halls’ and ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful,’ to the more modern hits like ‘Run, Run Rudolph’ and ‘Hard Candy Christmas.’ It’s a holiday roulette of festive music that’s enjoyable for the whole family.”
In keeping with tradition, the heartwarming Nativity sequence returns once more, complete with fields of shepherds and choirs of angels who will combine their voices to dazzle and inspire. Moving forward a few centuries, music from beloved holiday movies will be featured in “Silver Screen Christmas,” a medley inspired by the drive-in theaters of decades past. Throughout the program, patrons hear carols that are held dear, enjoy popular hits like “Blue Christmas” and music from The Polar Express, and many new songs that are sure to become new favorites.
