Children’s Trust committee eyeing over $3.3 million

The Escambia Children’s Trust Program Committee will meet today at 1 p.m. at Tryon Branch Library, 1200 Langley Avenue. The committee has three members: Tori Woods, Chair, Dr. Rex Northup and Patty Hightower.

They will consider four grant proposals outside of the Request for Proposal process:

Legal Services of North Florida: $2,095,807 over three years 1) Expand representation for children in or facing dependency; 2) Provide legal assistance in education issues for 90 children.

REAP: $20,000 1)Create internet access stations at The Lodges and Max-Well Respite Center’; 2) Launch “Dribbles the All-knowing Cate and Friends” program for early childhood development at its two facilities for more than 200 children.

Escambia County Sheriff’s Office: $1,166,903.42 over three years 1) Sheriff’s Movie Nights $120,000; Paid public service announcements and billboards $150,000; AXON-Simulator, a virtual reality training for law enforcement trainees $456,603.42; Real Time Crime Center $440,300.00

Escambia County Public Schools Foundation – The proposal isn’t posted on the ECT website.

Center for Independent Living: $30,000 Pre-employment training program for high school youth with disabilities.
