HCA Florida West named to Top 100 list

Fortune Magazine has named HCA Florida West Hospital a “100 Top Hospital” in the nation for the fifth time.

The 100 Top Hospital recognition program started in the early 90’s and became IBM/Watson.  In February 2023, Fortune Magazine acquired the program.  HCA Florida West also achieved this recognition in 2002, 2015, 2016 and 2017.  According to the study, if all hospitals performed at the level of the 100 Top Hospitals, over 272,000 additional lives could be save in-hospital (31% fewer deaths) and over 432,000 additional patients could be complication free (9% fewer patient complications).

Not only is the reward a function of quality care, but also financial stability. The study further suggests over $15.7 billion inpatient costs could be saved (Nearly 20% lower inpatient expenses per discharge). Now more than ever, it’s crucial that our hospitals be good stewards of their finances so the community can count on long-term presence and continued investment.

  1. My homeless clients are treated good at West Florida. Horrible treatment at Baptist, disturbing treatment at Sacred Heart. Ironic that a for profit hospital treats the homeless better than these so call “nonprofit” hospital. Baptist and Acension both should be investigated over their “patient dumping”.
