The Town of Century needs to have its own reality show – with guest appearances by the Milton City Council (or crossover episodes). NorthEscambia.com should be the executive producer.
On Tuesday, the Century Town Council failed to pass its new millage rate – .9204, which is 290.66% greater than the rolled-back rate of .2356 mils. It’s such a large increase the council needed to pass it unanimously. Council President Dynette Lewis dissented. Without the millage increase, the town leaders couldn’t approve its FY 2024 budget.
Today NorthEscambia.com reports Interim Mayor Luis Gomez, Jr. and Interim Councilman Henry Cunningham will keep their seats because no one else qualified for a special election.

On Sunday, September 24, the Florida High School Athletic Association honored Booker T. Washington’s pioneering athletics tradition.
From 1932-1968, Booker T. Washington High School was a part of the Florida Interscholastic Athletic Association (all black athletic association).
The FHSAA honored Booker T. Washington High School as one of the founding member schools of the FIAA. This year marks 55 years since the FIAA and FHSAA integrated!
