American Magic wins Race 5 to stay in the hunt

From American Magic website: American Magic faced a do-or-die scenario in Race 5 of the Louis Vuitton Cup Semi-Finals on Monday, September 16th. With the series score at 0-4, the team needed to win every remaining race to keep their challenge alive. A loss today would end their campaign.

In light winds of 7-9 knots, American Magic entered the start box on time, focusing on maintaining foil stability. Luna Rossa took an early advantage, but American Magic kept the race tight. The conditions remained challenging, with both teams battling to stay on their foils and capitalize on any opportunities.

Despite the difficult conditions, American Magic demonstrated resilience and strategic sailing. The team managed to regain control during critical moments, securing a vital win and closing the series gap to 1-4. This victory keeps their hopes for advancing in the Cup alive.

American Magic’s win today is crucial as they must now win every remaining race to continue their pursuit of the 37th America’s Cup.
