Buzz: MPDP may be dropped as general contractor

There is persistent buzz that a motion will be made at today’s special meeting of the Community Maritime Park Associates Board of Trustees to drop Maritime Park Development Partners as the general contractor. All the subcontractors, professionals and consultants will be retained – Baskerville-Donovan, Spencer Maxwell Bullock, etc. and either the construction will become a public works project or a local firm will be hired to be the general contractor.

I’m not sure what impact of such a motion, if passed, would have on the master development agreement with MPDP.

The meeting is at noon today at City Hall.
