Rudman jumps into Congressional Race

The “Rock & Roll Doc,” State Rep. Joel Rudman, has announced he will run for Matt Gaetz’s congressional seat. He teased the announcement earlier this morning, and then let Florida Politics break the news.

Rudman told the news website: ““The people here have had very good representation, and they don’t want any knockoffs. They don’t want people without a backbone. They want someone who can stand strong and stand firm and take those arrows. The way I see it, I’m the heir apparent to that. I carry on the legacy that Matt has left for us.”

If Rudman and Salzman stay in the race, they must resign 10 days before the qualifying period begins – that start date hasn’t been announced. Their resignations will reduce our area’s delegation to only two members. State Rep. Alex Andrade and Sen. Don Gaetz will have to carry the load for Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
