Steve Stevens nomination blocked

The nomination of Steve Stevens to the Public Service Commission was derailed today when Senate confirmation committee chairman J.D. Alexander, R-Lake Wales, adjourned without taking a vote. Alexander who is also Senate’s budget chief abruptly called an end to the meeting this morning with three minutes left on the clock as the panel was in the midst of interrogating Commissioner David Klement. The committee isn’t scheduled to meet again before the session ends on April 30.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, PSC General Counsel Curt Kiser said that if Klement and Stevens are not confirmed by the Senate this year or voted down, they would have to be replaced on the PSC almost immediately. Read more.
