Escambia County, Pensacola Habitat to Host Homebuyer Workshop April 12

Are you dreaming of homeownership but worried about affordability? Escambia County and Pensacola Habitat for Humanity are joining forces to host a free homebuyer workshop focused on 14 newly constructed single-family homes available for eligible buyers.

Why this matters: This initiative aims to make homeownership accessible to individuals and families at or below 80% of the Area Median Income.

Event Details

When: Saturday, April 12, 2025, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: Marie K. Young Wedgewood Community Center, 6405 Wagner Road
Cost: Free (registration encouraged)

Available Properties

The 14 homes are located throughout Escambia County and within Pensacola city limits. Property addresses include locations on South “M” Street, North Coyle Street, North “B” Street, West Wright Street, and several other neighborhoods throughout the area.

Workshop Benefits

Attendees will receive valuable information about:

  • Program eligibility requirements
  • The step-by-step homebuying process
  • Application procedures

Staff from both Escambia County and Pensacola Habitat will be on hand to answer questions during and after the presentation. Escambia County’s SHIP First-Time Homebuyer Program provides loans of up to $45,000 for income-eligible first-time homebuyers to assist with down payments and closing costs.

Application Requirements

To qualify for one of these homes, potential buyers must:

  • Provide proof of home mortgage pre-qualification from a SHIP-approved lender
  • Attend an eight-hour pre-purchase homebuyer workshop

Pensacola Habitat program staff will handle application processing and verify income and assets according to the agreement with Escambia County’s SHIP program.
