The Florida Dept. of Education has posted the AP exam statistics for the 2011-12 school year on its website. Statewide 29.6 percent of the 10-12th graders take AP exams for a advanced placement in college. Escambia County has 18.3 percent. While Escambia has improved the percentage since 2009, the gap between the county and state percentages widened–going from 9.6 to 11.3 percent.
The state shows a slight improvement in those passing tests–jumping from 42.9 in 2009 to 45.2 last year. Escambia County is relatively flat, slipping 0.9 percent, but still above the statewide percentage.
