ATU Local 1771 put in hands of trustee

Yesterday, Escambia County Administrator Jack Brown was sent a letter from the Amalgamated Transit Union headquarters informing him that the union that represents the county’s blue collar workers – not the bus drivers – was put in trusteeship by International President Lawrence J. Hanley. All the officers of ATU Local 1771 have been suspended and are no longer agents of the chapter.

Hanley appointed Curtis Howard of Silver Springs, Maryland as the trustee.

In talking with those knowledgable about the situation, Hanley acted because ATU Local 1771 officers were not holding regular meeting or Executive Board meetings.
