Press Release: Baptist Health Care announced plans today to build a new full-scale hospital at Brent Lane and I-110 as part of a long-term master plan to transform the way health care is provided.
The new hospital will provide a central location for clinical care, programs and services that will be easier for patients to access via the I-110 corridor. Equipped with innovative technologies for diagnosis and treatment along with a concentration of related services, the facility will provide a seamless continuum of care that is more convenient for the patient and better optimizes resources.
Baptist will maintain a significant presence at its current E Street location to include the majority of Baptist Health Care system administration, system support services, and Lakeview Center, as well as other programs and clinical services, and will remain a vital part of the community where it was founded. The E Street campus will be redesigned as a hub for an expansion of vital community-based services that are more efficiently and effectively provided outside the conventional hospital setting. Discussion with community partners will begin soon to determine the range of services that will be offered there to better serve local needs.
“Today’s announcement signals a bold transformation. At Baptist, our legacy began with a vision to bring modern health care to the community, and that legacy has guided us in our Mission of helping people throughout life’s journey. We’ve been a part of the fabric of this community for close to 70 years and we are committed to continuing to provide compassionate care to all we serve. Health care and our community have undergone immeasurable growth and change since our doors opened in 1951, and so too have we. This investment demonstrates our commitment to the people of Northwest Florida and South Alabama for generations to come,” said Mark Faulkner, president/CEO.
The initial footprint is expected to be just over 650,000 square feet of patient care space. The investment is estimated to exceed $550 million. The new hospital is expected to open in summer 2023.
The project is currently in its earliest planning stages. As plans progress, Baptist will keep the public informed and updated through its website at ebaptisthealthcare.org and through its social media channels @baptisthealthcare.
