“Let’s Get to Work,” the political committee affiliated with Gov. Rick Scott, pulled in $227,525 — including $100,000 from U.S. Sugar — during the first three weeks of June, according to the committee’s website.
Let’s Get to Work also collected $75,000 from North Carolina-based tobacco giant RAI Services Company, and $50,000 from a political committee tied to prison contractor The Geo Group, Inc.
Scott, in the final two years of his last term as governor, is not openly seeking another office. But Let’s Get to Work, which played a critical role in Scott’s election campaigns, remains active to promote the governor’s agenda.
The committee also reported spending $82,372 in the first three weeks of June, with the biggest expenses going to political and fundraising consultants. The committee paid $13,500 to political consultants The Factor, based in Miami, on June 1, and $12,000 to Tallahassee-based Calvery Strategies the same day, according to the website. On June 13, Let’s Get to Work paid Deborah Aleksander of Tallahassee $30,108 for fundraising consulting.
Since January, the committee has raised just under $1.44 million and spent $1.7 million. The 2016 spending includes $1.18 million that went to Maryland-based OnMessage for media production and advertising; $70,000 for political consulting; and $82,357 for fundraising consulting.
