BP says ban was a symantics error

Associated Press is also upset about being dropped from the pool media event today. Mayor Mike Wiggins expressed his anger at AP, WCOA and the IN from being excluded. He demanded that BP do more tours for the media.

Harold “Cliff” Sanders, a former FEMA employee who has been hired by BP to be the EOC liaison, said that today’s pool media event was only a “trial run” and that more tours will happen. Sanders said that “pool media” was a symantics error.

I told Mr. Sanders that it was unacceptable that BP sent out the email at 7:30 pm after the press conference and that the media covering this event should be allowed to decide who makes up the pool.

There were no pool media events locally for hurricanes Ivan, Dennis and Katrina.
