Breaking: Gaetz collapses (update)

Breaking News

Update: Text from Don-Apparently my speech was so bad they called the EMTs to haul me away. I am now an inmate at the Lewis Bear Health Center.

State Senator Don Gaetz collapsed while speaking at a highway dedication this morning and has been taken to Baptist Hospital. Though we haven’t received any official word, people at the event said he appeared stable when he got into the ambulance.

The event was the dedication of the “Bart D. and John R. Broxson Parkway,” near the intersection of Avalon Boulevard and Hwy. 90 in Milton.

The state senator collapsed while speaking. Observers suspect it was due to low blood pressure. They got him in a chair, and he appeared better when his blood pressure returned a bit. However, when he stood up and started to speak again, he collapsed again.

Matt Gaetz tweeted: “Today while giving remarks at a transportation event in Santa Rosa County, Senator Don Gaetz began to feel unwell. He returned to his remarks, but his condition did not immediately improve.  He is currently in stable condition and is receiving excellent medical care. Our family thanks the first responders, nurses and doctors who have assisted him today for their outstanding work. We appreciate the expressions of prayer and support shared with all of us.  He will be fully recovered soon.”
