Buzz: Escambia High coaches under investigation

We’ve heard that the football coaches at Escambia High School are under investigation by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office after a student and a school resource officer were allegedly approached by one, possibly two of the coaches, told that if a student-who had been beaten by an athlete- didn’t drop the matter that the coaches could not guarantee the teenager’s safety from reprisals from the football players. Reportedly the SRO was told that he wouldn’t been hired for security for football games if the investigation continued.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed this afternoon that an investigator is at the school interviewing personnel. It does involve one or more coaches and it is considered a criminal investigation.
