The word on South Palafox is Escambia County Administrator Janice Gilley may have to face a job performance evaluation when she returns from vacation.
The process is the Board of County Commissioners tomorrow first must vote to discuss her contract. The actual discussion will occur at the next regular meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 17. The board then could vote to terminate Gilley’s employment, which would take three votes.
The item hasn’t been placed on the agenda for the June 3 meeting that is displayed online, but the county staff has been slow to show agenda changes after the initial post is made to myescambia.com.
As Inweekly has reported, frustration with Gilley and her grasp of county operations has festered for months. After two years at the helm and bringing in her own leadership team, the commissioners have been continually blindsided by mismanagement blunders.
The taxpayers have paid Gilley more than any previous administrator and received sub-par work. She will walk away with a healthy severance package.
