Buzz: Nodine may face more charges

Former Mobile County Commissioner Steve Nodine may be indicted this week on more charges in connection to the death of Angel Downs, according to reports by WEAR and Mobile Press Register.

Nodine is charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend, Downs, outside her Gulf Shores home in early May. Nodine surrendered to Baldwin County authorities May 24, was released on $250,000 bail in June and is scheduled to go on trial in December.

For two years, Nodine was wined and dined in Pensacola for his efforts to bring Northrup Grumman to Mobile, which may have has spin-off benefits for our area. He even appeared before the Escambia County Commission to support Comm. Gene Valentino’s economic development agency.

The days leading up to the murder Nodine and Valentino had competed in the Florabama International Mullet toss—Gene won.
