City Council considers Airport Stormwater Pond expansion

Storm
The Pensacola City Council meets next week. On the agenda is a recommendation to award Panhandle Grading & Paving a $2.8 million contract to renovate and expand the stormwater pond on the southwest quadrant of the Pensacola International Airport.

The project is funded with the help of a $2.7 million grant from the Florida Department of Transportation, which the council approved in March 2014. The additional funding comes from the city’s airport and stormwater capital funds – $300,000 and $21,672 respectively.

The budget for the construction project is $3,021,672:

Construction: $2,823,971.68
Contingency (5%): 141,198.58
Engineering Project Management: $35,000
Construction Testing & Misc.: $21,501.74

The requests for proposal were sent out Sept. 24 and the deadline for bids was Oct. 22, 2014.
