Two sources have shared a flyer that popped up in elevators in the new Baptist Hospital. The flyers call for a Baptist Compensation Rally on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Brent Lane entrance.
“We are the ones that made this possible. Let Mark, Sid, Julie, Brent FINALLY hear our voices. “
What are employees asking for?
- Significant compensation increases,
- Shift differentials,
- Weekend and Holiday Pay,
- Call pay increase,
- No more free meal or 2% cost of living raise every 4 or 5 years,
- Lower copays and affordable health insurance.
The organizers say that local media stations will be notified.
“Time to re-invest in the people that really.”
It’s sad that it has come to this but the light of truth has to shined on the true treatment at Baptist. The leaders of Baptist and every person from the community that sits on the board of this community owned hospital, has shown more care for brick and mortar than the people that worked for Baptist and made the new hospital. I believe that there should be a very thorough audit for everyone in leadership, including the board and an audit for every single penny that Baptist has taken in and sent out. The leadership that took over in 2012 has been self serving and has enriched themselves and has run off anyone that did not agree with their ideas or plans. The news makes reports on the new beautiful hospital but will not do a report on how Baptist took away from every single worker but themselves. Baptist hospital has become the Good Ole Boy Piggy Bank for a lot of so called important people in our community and if anyone says that’s not true, well ok then prove and dispel the rumors. Shame on everyone that has turned a deaf ear to the ones crying out for transparency and justice. The CEO has had a increase in his pay and benefits but refuses to give to his staff. He is been praised as if he is a hero or something. For what? What has he done so great besides take away from his staff to build a smaller hospital. The leadership is supposed to meet today to come up with a plan to stop and most likely punish anyone that is or wants to be involved in the rally because they don’t want to tarnish the new hospital. It would be awesome if the community would stand up for us and with us at the rally. This hospital is owned by the community and we need the power of our community.
