From Dec. 17-25, parking in metered spaces and surface lots managed by the Downtown Improvement Board will be free, the DIB announced this week. “Parking Amnesty Week” emerged from a desire promote downtown shops and galleries for holiday shopping, while also increasing awareness of the underutilized surface lots in the downtown district.
During the week leading up to and including Christmas day, downtown visitors will be able to experience the holidays at “Florida’s Greatest Place,” shopping, dining and enjoying Winterfest holiday activities under the glow of half a million white lights—without having to bother with parking fees.
“We have more than 100 local shops and galleries in Downtown Pensacola bursting with an eclectic mix of gifts for everyone on your list,” said Downtown Improvement Board executive director Curt Morse. “And from Dec. 17-25 we’re spreading cheer one of the best ways we know: free parking!”
