Double digit sales tax may replace property taxes

thinkingSo you are angry over your property tax bill? Would you rather pay more sales tax? Hmmm, how about 7.5 percent more – from the current state rate of 6% to 13.5%?

That’s one of the controversial options recommended by a governor-appointed task force last week. Not sure the impact on county property appraiser and tax collector offices. If they were eliminated, county would save $10 million annually.
But would it hurt tourism and place to big a burden on the poor who already have trouble making ends meet?
