
Escambia County has 223 more COVID-19 deaths – the third 200+ day this week – and three more deaths – bringing death toll to 76. Florida surpasses 400K cases.
For July, Escambia has had 32 deaths. From March-May, the county only had 33 deaths.
Of the new cases, 215 were Florida residents; 17 connected to nursing homes – new total 522. The median age is 44 and positivity rate 12.7% for 1,674 test results.
Hospitalizations increased by 14 – total 320:
Thursday, July 16: 257 total hospitalizations
Thursday, July 9: 170 total hospitalizations
Thursday, July 2: 101 total hospitalizations
Thursday, June 25: 87 total hospitalizations
Among the new cases, 15 were the 5-14 age group, total 226 – an increase of 129 cases since July 10 – up 133%. For the 0-4 age group, 4 new cases, total 73 – an increase of 37 cases – doubling the July 10 YTD total of 36.
The county jail tested seven more inmates – maybe the females who wrote Inweekly yesterday – and the positivity rate for the 189 test results received is 71.4%. The jail have over 1,400 inmates on average – only about 14% have been tested.
