Escambia County Press Release: The Cove Landfill fire has sparked up again, this time in an area in close proximity to Pine Meadow Elementary School. According to Escambia County Public Safety officials, the fire poses no immediate threat to the students at the school, but eroding air quality does remain a concern. School officials are keeping the children inside the building as a precaution. Residents should refer to the Escambia County Health Department for air quality alerts. Escambia County will post additional information on the fire and its implications as they become available.
