scream

We are #13 on the EPA’s list for counties in the U.S. that produce the most toxins….Yeah! We are #1 for the state of Florida. There are only two other Southeast U.S. counties on the list – both in Tennessee.

See pdf: Toxins Top 25

The Comprehensive Assessment for Tracking Health in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties shows we have higher cancer rates than the state and peer counties.

All cancers, age adjusted mortality (per 100,000): Escambia – 192.23, Peer counties 180.7; Florida 171.52

Breast Cancer Morbidity, Total Female (per 100,000): Escambia – 143.7, Peers – 103.53, Florida – 123.96

No link was made to environment in the assessment, but other counties on the EPA list with high toxin releases also have high cancer rates.
