Free concerts everywhere, but here

While Pensacola Beach is dragging its feet on setting up a big-name concert series to help its businesses, both Gulf Shores and Okaloosa County have announced theirs.

“CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends: Live From the Gulf Coast” is scheduled to broadcast live nationwide on CMT from 7 to 8:30 p.m. July 1 on the public beach in Gulf Shores, Ala., using the same grounds as last month’s Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival.

In an effort to draw crowds to Okaloosa County beaches, the Emerald Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau will start a free concert series called “Rock the Beach” this Sunday, June 27. The bureau signed the Doobie Brothers to the 5 p.m. concert last Friday and added Kenny Loggins to the bill Monday night.
