Gaetz: Northwest Florida delegation delivered, survived vetoes too

State Sen. Don Gaetz says that not only did Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward have two projects survive Gov. Rick Scott’s line-item vetoes – $750K for stormwater retention for IHMC’s new building and $1M for the airport’s commerce park – but our legislative delegation delivered millions of dollars for projects in education, transportation, health care and economic development for our area.

On “Pensacola Speaks” yesterday, Gaetz praised the efforts of his son, Rep. Matt Gaetz, fellow Sen. Greg Evers, and Representatives Doug Broxson, Mike Hill and Clay Ingram.

Here are some of the highlights for our area:

University of West Florida: $12.3 million
Blackwater River Correctional Facility: $10.7 million
Pensacola State: $8 million
ARC Gateway: $2.5 million
National Flight Academy: $2.42 million
PEDC-Bluffs project: $2 million
Lakeview Center: $1.25 million
Santa Rosa I-10 Industrial Park: $1 million
Santa Rosa County Fair: $643,000
FOIL Corridor (Bluffs-related): $300,000
ReEntry Alliance of Pensacola: $200,000
Milton Riverwalk: $198,048
Escambia Co. Veterans Court: $150,000
