Mayor Ashton Hayward used his press conference on Southwest Airlines to announce that he is running for a second term. According to the daily, Hayward said deals like Southwest adding Houston and Nashville flights are “evidence he is delivering on the residents’ desire for strong, CEO-like leadership in Pensacola.”
BTW buried in the city press release is Southwest will be dropping its Air Tran flights to Atlanta – which would make Delta the only non-stop flight to that regional hub. However, the press release did say that Southwest will actually increase its number of one-stop destinations served from 53 to 65.
