How dead is Achieve Escambia?

The Early Learning Coalition of Escambia County has made the decision to no longer participate in Achieve Escambia, according to the coalition’s executive director’s report for August.

The executive director, Bruce Watson, wrote in the report that the decision had been reaffirmed with the interim executive director for Achieve, Myra Van Hoose, stated she had a conflict of interest in serving on the Coalition board because she is running for the county commission.

He wrote, “Although the Coalition no longer participates, invites to various meetings are still being received, and it is noted that most are subsequently being canceled. The reasons why, however, are not known.”
