Last week, the Florida Broad of Education released its Performance Metric Scores for the state universities. The University of West Florida finished tied for third, but last the tie-breaker to Florida State University. The other universities in the top five included University of Florida (UF), Florida International University and University of South Florida.
Inweekly reviewed the scores and examined where UWF needs to improve to avoid a tie-breaker next year.

There are three areas that UWF can improve to raise its point total – Bachelor’s Graduates Employed, Four-Year Graduation Rate, and Academic Progress.

UWF had the lowest percentage among the top five. To improve its score one more point, the university needs a 66%.

Universities get points for the greater of their excellence or improvement points. UWF received its 6 points due to its improvement percentage. To get one more point, the improvement percentage needed to be 3.5%. To get 7 points for excellence, the percentage needed to be 46.3%.
