In the Neighborhood Service agenda is a recommendation to take $200,000 of the Penny for Progress funds (Local Option Sales Tax) that had been planned for soccer fields and use it to complete nine clay tennis courts at Roger Scott. There has been a group of volunteers working hard to develop an inner city soccer program. Steve Sharp is one of the organizers. I hate to see the city promise the public one thing during the referendum vote and with a simple vote change course. Soccer is one of the most popular recreation programs in the country.
