Mobile mayor wants Magic Johnson to visit his city, too

John Sharp reports in his column, Sharp Eye, that Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson was very impressed when he heard Magic Johnson speak in Pensacola on Monday. He wants Johnson to speak in his city.

“Magic Johnson did a terrific job delivering a message,” Stimpson told the Mobile City Council on Tuesday. “He focused on children … saying that just because you are raised (in poverty) you don’t have to make poor choices. It was very inspiring.”

Stimpson said he’s made some inroads to bring the 54-year-old former Lakers point guard to Mobile after making a good contact with one of Johnson’s representatives while in Pensacola.

“That would be a big deal if it happened,” Stimpson said.
