Morgan and Lunsford win big, no surprises

Few surprises and no upsets occurred in yesterday’s primaries in Escambia County. Two-term incumbent Sheriff David Morgan easily handled his opponents, beating the field with 60.77 percent of the vote.

Scott Lunsford took an early lead when the mail-in and early voting totals were posted and never looked back in the Tax Collector’s race against former SRIA manager Buck Lee.

All three ECUA incumbents – Vicki Campbell, Elvin McCorvey and Larry Walker – were returned to office.

The County Commission races were not close. Former School Board member Jeff Bergosh got 40.79 percent of the vote in the District 1 race. Incumbent Steven Barry easily handled his opponent Danny Smillie in the District 5 race.
