News coverage of budget workshop weak

thinking

Escambia County Commission held its first budget workshop yesterday.

WEAR TV focused on the cuts on funds given to non-profits like the Florida Wildlife Sanctuary, St. Michael Cemetery, Clean & Green, 4th of July Fireworks. No mention of proposed cuts in the more essential services like public health.

News Journal wrote in general terms and didn’t give the dollar requests made by the constitutional officers. Did tell that Magaha refused to cut budget, but did not say that McNesby requested $10 million increase.

Come on, guys. You’ve got to help with some of the heavy lifting.
