Okaloosa County Sheriff indicted

WEAR TV reports that We have breaking news out of Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris has been indicted on multiple federal charges and has been suspended as sheriff.

On Wednesday, the United States District Court issued a warrant for arrest for Charlie Morris that charged Morris with theft or bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds, wire fraud, deprivation of right to honest services, engaging in monetary transactions in property derived from specified unlawful activity, and conspiracy to commit those offenses.

Governor Charlie Crist has suspended the sheriff from his duties and has appointed Edward Spooner as interim sheriff beginning today until further notice.
