Only Pensacola: Man jailed for excessive 911 calls

A Pensacola man is charged with making false 9-1-1 calls. Authorities say Cheveon Ford made 292 calls since the beginning of this month. He was arrested Tuesday.

Authorities say the 21-year-old told deputies he made the calls because he didn’t have any minutes on his phone and that 9-1-1 is a free call.

Authorities used global positioning coordinates to track the phone. Ford was being held on a $50,000 bond at the Escambia County Jail in Pensacola.
